Android 2.3 ~ Gingerbread

Gingerbread

Last week, I upgraded my galaxy tab from android 2.2 (froyo) to 2.3 (gingerbread). Since my laptop's CD drive has problem, I used my sister's computer. I installed the KIES (2 mini cds) that I got when I bought my tab last year.  After I installed Kies, I downloaded the updated version. Installing gingerbread took 30 minutes to 1 hour. There are additional applications such as Calculator, Sketch memo, eBook, Downloads, Social Hub and Pulse. I just got them when I upgraded my firmware to gingerbread, but when my sister bought her own tab on May 2011, there are installed calculator and eBook applications. I bought mine on March 2011. I can also use portable wi-fi hotspot in which I can share my 3g via wi-fi to other devices like my galaxy note because of this upgrade. I was not able to use this feature when it was still froyo.

changes of icon's such as browser, battery, and android market to play store

For those who do not have cds, you can download the installer at the samsung website. However, when I tried to install it my laptop, there is an error.

Android 4.0 ~ Ice Cream Sandwich

I read that Samsung will release Android 4.0, also known as Ice Cream sandwich, last March. I am excited to have it since it is the latest operating system of Android. I am also glad because Samsung will provide this update to galaxy note. It said that the software package offers exclusive S Pen applications, enhanced multimedia features, and an Android 4.0 upgrade. After waiting for almost 3 months, the official software package is finally available. It is about 370+MB. At first try, the download is not successful. I don't know why, but probably because our wifi was not stable last night. However, I was able to make it. I saw great differences from gingerbread to ice cream sandwich. You can watch the video below.

Chikka Plus Globe Roaming Abroad

Chikka Text Messenger is definitely helpful if you stay abroad. Why? because it let you send free text messages to your home country. Like me, I went to South Korea and currently stay at USA. I can text my family at Philippines for free. You also have to register to Globe Roaming 24 hours before your departure just in case your relatives are unlimited in texting. With roaming, you will receive their replies to your mobile phone. I'm not sure if the reply text to chikka is 2.50pesos or 50cents. But, your text to Philippines from your mobile number costs 25pesos. Expensive, right? If you dial " *143# ", the balance inquiry is free. Registration to Chikka is free if you are in Philippines. But, if you are in abroad, it costs 25pesos just to text "JOIN" to 2814.

To roam your globe number, you just have to dial " *143# ". The registration is free. However, you need to have balance of 130pesos. Once your roaming is activated. You have to maintain 50pesos to continue the service. You will see AT&T as your network in USA. In my phone, you will see AT&T and GLOBE.

You will receive these messages once you arrived in USA:

"Enjoy Globe Roaming! To activate, reply GROAM<space>YES. If not, reply GROAM<space>NO. You must have at least P130 to activate your roaming service. Please reply within 12 hours to keep your Roaming active. Within this period, all roaming charges will apply. Thank you."

If you will text "GROAM YES", the reply will be:

"Your Roaming is now active. For more info, text GROAM INFO to  2884 or call our Globe Roaming Support Hotline at *131*6327301212#. Roaming rates apply. Once you have returned to the Philippines, please text GROAM OFF to 2884 to deactivate your roaming. Globe reserves the right to terminate your Roaming w/o liability, should it detect usage in excess of remaining load, fraud, or any other patterns of abuse. Please maintain a daily balance of at least P50 to avoid termination of your Roaming service. Thank you for roaming with Globe."

High School Hang Out

I just miss my library times when I was in high school. This is the most unforgettable place for me during that time. Every break time and lunch time, I stay there to read my fave books or study my subjects. I checked a while ago my multiply site if the link still works. It does not work anymore. Good thing, I typed my name in the google search engine and my essay for library still exists. However, it has new link: http://library.ust.edu.ph/usths3.htm :)
